HOW WE BEGAN
Many of us suffer from an autoimmune illness, and Quality Life
co-founder Daniel Krozonouski is no exception.
ISSA CFT, BBS, FRCms
Co-Founder, Chief Executive Officer
One spring evening in 2007, Dan began his journey to live a higher quality of life. Shortly after his 13th birthday, he was struck by his first of two strokes - abruptly losing the use of the right side of his body.
It was then, at Sick Children’s Hospital in Toronto, Canada, that Dan’s trajectory changed forever. “I didn’t know what was going to happen to me. The doctors said that there was little to no hope to recover. They told me that I would be a full paraplegic with a low quality of life by the age of 25. One year later, I was diagnosed with MS and Lyme disease. I was told that neither illness had any cure. At best, I could take the drugs prescribed and just hope - with a grim best possible outcome. This just didn’t make sense to me.”
How could he go from a straight-A, musical, high-level hockey player to a paralyzed vegetable overnight? Dan's mother asked the doctors if there was any chance that his nutrition, fitness or lifestyle had anything to do with the illnesses. A resounding no from the specialists.
Was the suffering really that random? How could the human body become extremely ill overnight? This began Dan’s journey to solving the puzzle that was his health. He worked with Lyme, MS and chronic autoimmune specialists all over the world and experimented with diverse types of exercise, nutrition programs and lifestyle tactics. Through the suffering, growing and healing Dan experientially learned how to create a quality life.
It wasn’t until his second stroke in the summer of 2012 that Dan really dug into his research. Using science-backed techniques of movement, breathwork, nutrition, supplementation, sound and sleep, Dan healed his body from paralysis to fully functional. It became his mission to help empower those who also suffered without answers.
Dan first shared his knowledge with health food store clients, helping customers understand the impact of vitamins, minerals and holistic supplementation. Following this, he expanded his professional fitness expertise, working as a Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) and Bodybuilding Specialist (BBS) through the International Sports Sciences Association. Continuing education, he later became a Functional Range Conditioning mobility specialist (FRCms) through the Functional Range Systems.
Dan has extensively worked with clients in and out of the gym for over 5 years - helping them get in shape, move better and optimize their health through exercise, nutrition and lifestyle coaching. He brings understanding and empathy to his clients’ challenges through his experiential suffering. Synthesizing this knowledge into At-Home programs, Quality Life was then created to give people the tools they need to thrive in a world of chaos and disease.
Isn’t it time we empower people to take control of their health, and live a higher quality of life?
